Like I said, an adventure. One we warmed up for an hour or so, we braved it again to walk to dinner.
We went back to our hotel, swam in the pool, ate ice cream and watched America's funniest home videos.:) We also had " the talk". I was so nervous about it, wondering how she would react, what she would think ect..but also knew i wanted it to come from me before she heard anything from anyone at school. It went SO well. She asked questions, listened and acted like talking about this stuff with me was the most natural thing in the world. Which is EXACTLY what i want!:) God is good. Thanks for all the prayers!!:) The next day we got up early, ate the AWESOME free breakfast, and headed out to the American Girl store. Cassie has been waiting for a LONG time to get one, but we wanted her to be able to take care of it, since they arent cheap. So, she had to wait for her 10th birthday..which i cannot believe is here.:( We were the second mom/daughter to get to the door, with 30 minutes to wait til they open. MAN, was it ever cold! They were anouncing their new doll of the year..so there were lots of people once they opened.
They had live hula dancers and they taught the girls how to hula. Cassie can shake her hips, its kinda scary how good she is too....oh dear.
Once she picked out her doll, we checked out and headed back to the hotel so she couls open the box and hold her.:) She was SUPER excited.
She picked Josefina Montoya. She is a doll set in the 1800's, from New Mexico. She got the doll and her whole set of books to go with it. I am excited for her to learn some history of the hespanic people. ( Connie, she ultimately decided on Josefina because she wanted to learn Emma's heritage:) Once she got her doll out and played with her a bit at the hotel, it was time to check out and head back to the station. On the way, we stopped to do a little bit of her 10 yr. pictures. With her doll.:)

My favorite and the one I think I am puting in her frame.

Once we were at the station( which, by the way, was like 10 minutes from the hotel. All we had to do was go up some STAIRS and we were on Michigan Ave! OY!) We took some more cute pics of my adorable double digit daughter.

Once we were on the train, Cassie read and played with her doll the whole ride home. The whole trip was an awesome time and I enjoyed every minute of it! I hope it's 24 hours she never forgets, because I won't.

talk about hormones...i'm in tears again - quit making me cry with all this life stuff ;). Happy belated birthday to Cassie. I hope Tyler called yesterday, still late and we feel awful! It looks like you had a great time - and you'll so have to tell me details on the talk ;) I think it was so perfect for you guys to not have your phone, we did use to live without them, ya know? But oh how reliant we are on them now. Emma and I are both honored that she wants to learn so much about our roots. We'd be glad to share what I've learned any time she'd like to listen (and will make for a great history report in the future of homework!) We love you guys! Thanks for keeping us posted on life.
aww thats so sweet. New Mexico for Emmas heritage!! ;) hahahha adorable. Yeahh for "the talk" good for you! Glad it was better than you ever imagined. God is good!! What trick did Tyson have up his sleeve?
