What a weekend.
Lots of talks with teens, lots of food, lots of laughter, lots of food, lots of listening, lots of learning, oh, and did I say, lots of food?
I went with the youth group to winter retreat.
It was a blast.
It was exhausting.
The theme for this year was biblical man/woman hood.
It wasn't just for the teens.
God showed me a lot about myself.
Just this morning I was reading 1 Peter 3:3-4
Us women should concern ourselves with INNER beauty, which is PRECIOUS to God.
The speaker said something that I think will stick with me for a while.
A biblical woman needs a balance of both
INDEPENDENCE and DEPENDENCE.
Independent in pursuing our faith in the Lord,
Dependent upon GOD to meet our needs.
OUCH.
I know I put a lot of that on Tyson. Like it's HIS job to make me grow closer to God.
Which it isnt. and he cant do it, so it is so unfair to put that on him.
And then for me to look to God for all my needs, not Tyson. Again, totally unfair to put him in a position in which he can never succeed.
Here's a bit more of his thoughts:
A WOMAN:
1.is glad she is a woman and expresses this through attitude and appearance.(1 tim. 2:9-10)
2. cultivates her inner beauty. ( 1 Peter 3:3-4)
3. EMBRACES her role to complement the role of her husband( 1 tim. 2:11, Eph. 5:22-24)
4.values her mind and seeks wisdom and knowledge( prov.22:17-21, 2:2-6
5. seeks ONLY God as the lover of her soul(Ps. 73:25, 63:1, Phil 4:12)
6. values purity in herself( 1 tim. 5:22)
7.values purity in the men around her( 1 thess. 4:3-8,Pr.6:25, 1 cor.7:1)
8. ALLOWS herself to be honored by the men around her(1 peter 3:7, Mark 10:6)
9.is controlled by the Holy Spirit, NOT emotions( james 1:19-20)
10.Avoids things that can destroy others through what she says or does( Prov.11:12-13, 20:19)
an Awesome list of things that I need to work on.
I love that God can teach ME even though this was geared towards the teens...
it's TOTALLY applicable to MY life.
I also learned a little Latin.:)
Imago Dei
The image of God....its my theme for the year of 2011.
I want to be the image of God for those around me...
I came home at about 1 in the afternoon...tired, emotionally exhausted...and just tired.
I love my husband.
Do you know what he did while I was gone for 2 days?
He cleaned the WHOLE church on Saturday( not our normal job, but he did it so the teen who normally does could go to the retreat) by himself.
He cleaned out my van and washed the outside.
He cleaned my whole house, did ALL the dishes
He had candles lit all over the house
He let me take a 2 1/2 hour nap
and then let me take off to get my run in.( i ran 4 miles without stopping!!!!!)
I think I am in LOVE with that Guy.:)

It's a good man you have there. :)
He does love you a lot. :) and he shows it in many ways. :)
Glad you had a great time too... ;)
God is good to use what you wouldn't consider to be your time to learn... to teach us more about how to live for Him.
Whole lotta stuff going on there...I think I've gotten mental stimulation overload since I hadn't been on the computer since Friday :) Love the lessons and definitely things we should be mindful of and teach the girls as they grow...Love it. glad you were able to go! And that Tyler is so sensitive to doing things for you like this so you can come home and just be :) That makes me smile and my heart smile for you. Love it. Miss you guys! Wish you could come on Friday too!!...serious overload think I will head to a nap until Emma wakes up :) Hugs!
